The property market is continuing to strengthen, new figures from the Land Registry indicate.
Over the course of last month, the price of the typical home in England and Wales increased 1.7 per cent – the largest monthly growth noted since July 2004.
Furthermore, it is the third consecutive month property values have risen, as the average home is now worth £155,885.
Homeowners looking to increase the value of their property even further may wish to consider getting to grips with DIY projects.
Doing so could be advisable as the Land Registry revealed some significant geographical differences in property values.
While Wales saw house values rise by an average of 3.1 per cent last month, an increase of just 0.9 per cent was recorded in Yorkshire and the Humber.
Meanwhile, figures released by the National Housing Federation earlier this month suggested that although property prices will fall both this year and in 2010, a series of consecutive rises should see house values stand at an average of £227,800 by the end of 2014.
